From individual training to needs‒oriented exercise - we will accompany you on your journey to becoming a well adjusted human-dog team.
Every human-dog team is different, and that’s exactly how the training should be as well. Maybe you’re currently stuck in a challenging situation: the walk is stressful, dog interactions are challenging, or the basics aren’t quite right yet. Or maybe your joint life is going well, but your dog is missing the right exercise that properly challenges and fulfills him.

We adjust our training to your needs and your situation. No human-dog team is identical - every situation and challenge that you face is different. In turn, the lessons and solutions will also be different.
Groups/Group Training
In our groups, your dog will train under realistic conditions with other dogs, everyday triggers and a lots of distraction. Our diverse groups offer opportunities for every human and their dog, strengthening the bond between them as well as promoting self-confidence and social competence for the dog.
Coaching for humans and dogs facing larger challenges.
Our training for Problem dogs is designed for human-dog teams that are faced with challenges on a daily basis: your dog is scared of everything and runs or hides away at sounds or movement? Or calm walks are impossible, encounters with other dogs lead to chaos, your dog is aggressively pulling on the leash, is reactive or completely unresponsive to commands outside? Instead of a relaxed co-living, you’re constantly faced with stress and insecurity, and the day-to-day life with your dog is not what you expected or hoped for.
We can help you address these and other challenges in our customized training for Problem dogs. We adjust our training to address individual concerns and needs to ensure lasting results and a more relaxed everyday life with your dog.

We adjust our training to your needs and your situation. No human-dog team is identical, and every situation and challenge you face is different. In turn, the lessons and solutions will also be different. For this reason we offer individual and tailored and coordinated approaches that will be of the most help to you in your current situation.
Fair & Needs-oriented
We stand for violence free, welfare-oriented and scientifically founded dog training methods. A good bond with our dogs cannot be achieved through pressure, force or other inappropriate training methods (see Methodology below). Our methods are based on trust, and this is something one must earn from their dog through hard work and dedication. We will help you achieve this.
Communication
We will help you understand what your dog is trying to say to you and how to communicate better with each other. If you cannot understand one another, it is difficult to build up trust.

Our dog training methods
Because we are constantly educating ourselves, and adjusting our approaches to meet the individual needs of each human and their dog, there is no specific “Method” that we work according to. However, the following teaching methods/approaches almost always are included in some shape or form.
Educated and certified under the training regulations and teaching methods of the SKG, these are of course anchored in our approach and training. The SKG places high value on the protection of dogs, needs-oriented learning and exercise according to the newest scientific findings.
Dog Training “FairPlay”
There is no room for violence and pressure in dog training and in a harmonious coexistence between Humans and dogs. We focus on a positive learning experience and work according to the “Least Intrusive Functionally Effective” (LIFE) model - the principle of minimal human intervention paired with the highest possible functional effectiveness.

Understanding “problem dogs” instead of correcting them
Leslie McDevitt is an American Canine Behavioral Consultant, specialized in the behavioral modification of so-called “problem dogs.” The central principle of her method is in creating a dialogue-centered training, in which the dog actively helps shape how it learns, rather than just passively reacting to signals and commands. This approach is based on operant conditioning with positive reinforcement, but goes beyond it by allowing the dog to guide its own counter conditioning process.
More self‒control for your dog
Grisha Stewart’s “Behavioral Adjustment Training” is based on giving a dog (in (in a safe and controlled environment) maximum control over how it handles a particular situation. Socially appropriate behavior is rewarded with functional reinforcers, rather than food, and human intervention is kept to an absolute minimum.

Patrick
Hi everyone, I’m Patrick, the founder and CEO of Haku & Co - Training People for Dogs.
I grew up in Germany and have been living in Switzerland with my wife, our two children, our three dogs - Haku, Mylla and Ivy (see below), and our cat Nevada for the last 16 years.
After finishing my education at the University of Mannheim/Heidelberg to be a Doctor, I went into industry where I held various positions in information technology and clinical research in Germany, the USA and Switzerland. Dogs are my greatest passion and my greatest teachers.
Vivienne
I’m Vivienne and I support Patrick in all things digital content and communications at Haku & Co.
I grew up in Germany and the USA, and briefly lived in Australia for a few years, and have now been living in Switzerland for the last 16 years.
Since childhood, I’ve had a passion for animals and animal welfare. I adopted my dog Ranger, who sadly passed in 2023, from a rescue in the USA.

Haku’s Story
As you probably have guessed, Haku (japanese for: white, pure, clear, far reaching, encompassing) is the namesake for our dog school.
Haku came into our lives in September 2021, and quite literally fundamentally changed them. He is the reason why I accompany people and their dogs on their own journeys today. He taught me more about communication and leadership (in particular where my weaknesses in these fields lie) than any leadership training that I have ever visited in my many years of professional experience. Moreso, he mercilessly displayed areas where I do not lead - or at the very least not lead in the way he needs for him to trust me.
To tell his entire story here would go beyond the scope of this text, but long story short, there were three defining events in Haku’s life that shaped our journey to today: diagnosed with an osteochondrosis at 6 months old, a bite attack from another dog, and at the age of 3 he was diagnosed with Sebaceous Adenitis (an autoimmune condition of the skin). Sebaceous Adenitis is not a known illness in the BBS breed. It more commonly occurs in Akita’s and Poodle’s. When Haku first started exhibiting the first clinical symptoms of this condition, he developed behavioral issues, which we could not properly attribute at the start. After diagnosis, and with the right medicine and dermatological therapy, as well as targeted behavioral modification training, we are now a good, playful team and can do (nearly) everything together. Haku’s favorite pastime is nose work (in the form of scent tracking and mantrailing).

Welche Trainingsangebote bietet Haku & Co in Grossdietwil und Umgebung an?
Unsere Mensch-Hund Schule bietet dir ein breites Angebot an Einzeltraining und Gruppentraining. Im Einzeltraining arbeiten wir gezielt an Themen wie Leinenführigkeit, Grundkommandos, Begegnungstraining, Rückruftraining sowie an der Arbeit mit "Problem-" und Angsthunden. In unseren Gruppenstunden bieten wir geführte Spaziergänge, Mantrailing, Begleithundetraining, Fährtenarbeit und Alltagstraining an. Unser Trainingsplatz liegt in Gondiswil – wir kommen aber auch mobil zu dir nach Hause, um dort zu helfen, wo die Herausforderungen im Alltag wirklich entstehen.
Arbeitet Haku & Co mit gewaltfreiem Hundetraining?
Ja, ausnahmslos. Gewaltfreies Hundetraining ist das Fundament unserer gesamten Arbeit. Wir sind Mitglied der Initiative für gewaltfreies Hundetraining in der Schweiz und setzen konsequent auf positive Verstärkung und das Least Intrusive Principle – das Prinzip des geringstmöglichen Eingreifens. Zusätzlich arbeiten wir mit bewährten Methoden wie dem Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT) nach Grisha Stewart und dem dialogorientierten Ansatz von Leslie McDevitt. Bei uns entsteht eine echte Mensch-Hund-Beziehung durch Vertrauen, nicht durch Druck.
Welche Qualifikationen hat der Hundetrainer Patrick von Haku & Co?
Patrick ist zertifizierter Hundetrainer der SKG (Schweizerische Kynologische Gesellschaft) und bringt über 14 Jahre Erfahrung in der Hundeerziehung mit. Er ist zertifizierter Jugend-und-Hund-Übungsleiter sowie ausgebildeter Mantrailing-Übungsleiter. Darüber hinaus ist er Mitglied im Sprich Hund Netzwerk und in der Gesellschaft für Berger Blanc Suisse. Patrick bildet sich fortlaufend weiter und integriert stets die neuesten wissenschaftlich fundierten Trainingsmethoden in seine Arbeit mit Mensch und Hund.
Bietet Haku & Co auch mobiles Hundetraining bei mir zu Hause an?
Ja, neben dem Training auf unserem Hundeplatz in Gondiswil bieten wir auch mobiles Hundetraining in der Region Grossdietwil und Umgebung an. Gerade bei Themen wie Alltagstraining, Leinenführigkeit auf bekannten Spazierwegen oder Verhalten im häuslichen Umfeld ist es oft effektiver, direkt vor Ort zu trainieren. So können wir genau dort ansetzen, wo die Herausforderungen im Alltag tatsächlich auftreten – sei es an der Haustür, im Quartier oder auf der gewohnten Gassi-Runde.
Kann Haku & Co auch bei Angst- und "Problemhunden" helfen?
Die Arbeit mit Angsthunden und "Problemhunden" ist ein Schwerpunkt unserer Mensch-Hund Schule. Wir helfen bei Themen wie Leinenaggression, Angst vor Umweltreizen, Trennungsangst, übermässigem Bellen, Jagdverhalten oder Unsicherheit gegenüber Artgenossen. Unser Ansatz: "Problemhunde" verstehen statt nur korrigieren. In einem dialogorientierten Training kann dein Hund seinen Verhaltensänderungsprozess aktiv mitgestalten und in einer sicheren Umgebung neue Strategien erlernen. Auch Hunde aus dem Tierschutz sind bei uns herzlich willkommen.
Was ist Mantrailing und wie läuft es bei Haku & Co ab?
Mantrailing ist eine Form der Nasenarbeit, bei der dein Hund anhand eines individuellen Geruchs eine bestimmte Person aufspürt. Es ist eine artgerechte und geistig fordernde Beschäftigung, die das Selbstvertrauen deines Hundes stärkt und die Bindung zwischen Mensch und Hund vertieft. Patrick ist ausgebildeter Mantrailing-Übungsleiter und bietet Mantrailing als festen Bestandteil unseres Gruppentrainings an. Diese Auslastung eignet sich für nahezu jede Rasse und jedes Alter.
Wie läuft eine Einzelstunde bei Haku & Co ab?
Im Einzeltraining widmen wir uns ganz gezielt den Bedürfnissen von dir und deinem Hund. Im ersten Schritt analysieren wir gemeinsam eure Situation und definieren klare Trainingsziele – ob Leinenführigkeit, zuverlässiger Rückruf, Begegnungstraining oder individuelle Herausforderungen. Jede Einheit wird auf euch abgestimmt, denn kein Mensch-Hund-Team ist gleich. Das Training findet wahlweise auf unserem Trainingsplatz in Gondiswil oder mobil bei dir vor Ort statt. So stellen wir sicher, dass das Gelernte direkt im Alltag ankommt.

Unsere Gruppenstunden und geführten Spaziergänge finden regelmässig in der Region Grossdietwil statt. Die Gruppen sind bewusst klein gehalten, damit wir jedes Mensch-Hund-Team individuell betreuen können. Brauche ich in der Schweiz einen Hundekurs und ist Haku & Co anerkannt?
In einigen Kantonen der Schweiz ist ein obligatorischer Hundekurs für Ersthundehalter oder bestimmte Rassen vorgeschrieben. Unabhängig von der gesetzlichen Pflicht empfiehlt sich professionelles Training für jedes Mensch-Hund-Team. Haku & Co arbeitet nach dem Ausbildungsreglement der SKG (Schweizerische Kynologische Gesellschaft), die grössten Wert auf artgerechtes Lernen und den Schutz der Hunde legt. Patrick ist SKG-zertifizierter Hundetrainer, was eine anerkannte und hochwertige Ausbildung in der Schweiz garantiert.
